SPRING INTO ACTION

Spring is here!! Well…..it really didn’t feel that way when I rolled into Atlanta last Tuesday for the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Eastern Regional. I guess it’s all relative. Forty eight degrees is not Spring weather in Florida, however,it is probably considered summer weather in Alaska.

I arrived early to begin promoting Saturday’s event at Atlanta’s local news stations. This means very early mornings. In fact, on Friday our arrival time at a news station was scheduled for 4:45 am. That meant waking up at 3:30 am. Sleep is overrated anyway.

SIZE MATTERS

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I have decided to highlight an Irish Wolfhound named Guinness who practically towers over my son as the photo of choice for this month’s blog. The tallest breed of dog in the world is described as a Gentle Giant by many; however, this description can be deceiving to first time owners.

Love is in the Air

As Valentine’s Day approaches I feel fortunate that throughout my life I’ve been lucky in love.   In addition to my 27 year relationship with my Husband I have shared my life with many beloved pets that have offered me continuous years of unconditional love.

Sled for sale!

Burrr………not! I realize that the only State in the US that has not had their share of snow is Florida. I am, though, sympathetic to those that own high energy dogs that are unable to provide proper exercise given the weather conditions. Believe it or not substituting physical play for mental play is a great way to channel some of your dog’s excess energy….. unless you are planning to purchase a sled.

Have an "Incredible" New Year!

If you need a little inspiration and want to be thoroughly impressed tune in to the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Championships on Saturday, January 15 at 3:30 EST. It should be a great show. For the first time ever other countries were represented in the sport of Canine Freestyle Flying Disc. Cool breeds represented in agility. Record breaking Diving Dogs. Speedy Jack Russell Terriers and new for 2010, the 30 weave pole race. Check it out!!
